PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE PURCHASING

Pre-owned vintage item. Sold as is, as seen on pictures, no returns on vintage/antique items. We do not alter/polish antique items (unless requested by buyer) and try to keep items as original as possible. We always test all metals, no matter if stamped or not.

  • Vintage classic Zuni Sunface bolo tie, a significant piece of Native American jewelry traditionally handcrafted by artisans of the Zuni Pueblo in New Mexico. This piece utilizes a precise mosaic inlay technique, where colorful gemstones are cut and fitted together in a sterling silver setting.
  • The Sunface motif represents the Sun Father, a sacred figure symbolizing warmth, life-giving energy, growth, and the eternal balance between sunrise and sunset. The materials used are chosen for their specific cultural meanings:
Mother of Pearl (White): Represents the face of the sun, symbolizing the moon's light, intuition, and imagination.
Turquoise (Blue): Symbolizes the sky, water, and spiritual oneness.
Red Coral (Red): Represents the earth, life force, and protection.
Black Onyx or Jet (Black): Used for facial details and the outer "feathers," representing the night and stability.
Vintage Zuni Sunface bolos are highly collectible. While some are signed by known masters like Abel Soseeah or Andrew Dewa, this older piece is unsigned as was common in earlier eras.
"Bennett" stamp on the back, which was commonly used on bolos from the mid-20th century. Stamped "Sterling FDS"
  • Measurements: 1" x 1.25". Picture with a shoe string taken for demonstration only and not included.
  • Weight: 5grams
