Vintage Native American Zuni Pueblo stone inlay owl pin set. Handcrafted pieces like these are classic examples of mid-century Southwest jewelry artistry.
Artisan Heritage: This particular three-piece set design is strongly associated with the famed mid-century Zuni husband-and-wife artisan team, Velma & Blake Lesansee. They are widely renowned for perfecting this specific multi-stone mosaic owl style.
Mosaic Channel Inlay: The intricate technique involves meticulously setting hand-cut stones into sterling silver channel patterns.
Materials Used:
Spotted Cowrie Shell (creating the distinctive mottled brown and tan wing patterns)
Mother of Pearl (forming the clean white bellies and eyes)
Sleeping Beauty Turquoise (accenting the feet, tails, or facial features)
Black Onyx or Jet (comprising the dark pupils and top-head accents)
No stamps. One of smaller pins shows some letters scribbled
